The frontend matters, but so does the way a site will later be operated, extended and maintained securely.

Practical automation

Automation is worthwhile when it reduces errors, saves time and remains transparent in operation. That may involve a data import, an API process, an editorial workflow or a technical service path.

Automation should make work easier, not obscure responsibility.

Integration, infrastructure and operations

Many problems do not arise in the code alone, but at the boundaries between a web application, database, reverse proxy, deployment, file system and editorial work. These interfaces have to fit together.
